ICC Profiles for Transparency Inkjet Film To create ICC profiles, we must measure the base color of media and the printed colors on the media printed image.
The transparent media presents an unusual problem because it is both reflective and transparent. The quality of an image on transparent media depends upon the intensity of light passing through it. Therefore, we believe putting as much ink as possible on the transparent media would be the best solution to print clear and vivid images on the transparent media.
We have created some profiles for the transparent media based upon users' requests. However, we recommend using a basic printer driver setting for Glossy Paper. You may try both methods and decide which is the best solution for your application. List of ICC Profiles..

With that in mind, PHOTO Techniques asked some of our regular contributors what their favorite inkjet papers are. The answers, not surprisingly, depend largely on their needs and tastes. Ilford GFS has become my current favorite paper for just about every application.
My latest gallery show, as well as fine-art portfolios, have been printed on GFS, which is very hard to fault. Though not as bright as papers that use Optical Brightening Agents OBAsIlford GFS is one of a new breed that uses baryta, a clay-like substance that has been traditionally used in the finest fine-art papers for the chemical darkroom. It adds brightness to the paper without the fading issues that OBAs have. Its heavy weight can cause problems when feeding it through some printers, but also makes prints feel substantial in-hand. It is available as Photo Rag Bright White as well.
The difference between the two is that the Bright White version contains OBAs. Which to choose is a matter of taste, though understand that OBAs do fade over time. Because it is a matte fine-art paper it uses matte-black ink, leading to reduced Dmax and dynamic range compared to glossy photo papers. Mark Dubovoy I do not like the look or the feel of plastic, and for archival purposes resin- coated materials have always been a disaster.
Therefore, I work with fiber- based papers exclusively. Epson Exhibition Fiber has the blackest blacks, the most brilliant whites, the sharpest images, the largest color gamut and the highest color saturation of any paper on the market. It has the highest Dmax of any paper I have tried, as well as the brightest and whitest base I have ever seen in a fiber-based paper. Prints on this paper are sharper than any other paper I have tried. The color gamut with Epson K3 inks exceeds even the Adobe RGB working color space.

Matte Black inks When to use Photo Black vs. Matte Black Inks A number of photo inkjet printers use two different primary black inks - Photo Black or Matte Black. Each is optimized for a certain type of inkjet media. Some fine art media like baryta photo paper and platine type photo paper also require the use of Photo Black inks. You will use Matte Black inks for cotton fine art and matte inkjet media. Matte papers are usually smooth and have a flat non-reflective surface.
Blakc Epson printers like the Epson R and Epson R require that you physically change paperr ink tank when you want to switch media types. Newer Epson printers, and all Canon printers with multiple black inks have all of the ink tanks on the printer at one time. The machine will either automatically switch when you change click here settings, or it will do a short "ink swap" then proceed with printing. Epson photo black on matte paper Black Ink Does Each Red River Paper Use?.
Exhibition fiber paper has an insert that says to use the Premium Glossy Photo Paper. It seems to work very well. So far, I haven't found any independent paper mfrs. Has anyone experimented with using other x printer profiles on theand if semigloss, how were the results. Using the Epson Premium Luster with the Gold Fibre Silk, produced very good results though. They look to my eyes like very similar papers, so this is probably why.
I just had good results printing on Red River Premium Matte using the Epson Enhanced Matte profile. Both papers have a similar smooth matte surface, so it seems the Epson profiles may work reasonably well for other manufacturers' papers of similar characteristics, until they prremium and post their own profiles. The Epson profiles worked best. More importantly, I received an email photo paper Drew at Red River Paper and was swmigloss ICC profiles should be available this see more.
As others have noted the print comes out somewhat desaturated. I plan to wait for the real profiles..
Whereas in the chemical darkroom days we were limited to just a handful of papers, especially for colour printing, now there are literally hundreds of papers available. The most interesting papers are cotton rag and alpha-cellulose papers designed till now for matte ink printing. It is largely because of these papers that most fine art printers use matte. But, glossy papers can reproduce denser blacks because they use gloss rather than matte black inks.
If you more info prints that feel good to the hand, either individually or in a portfolio, then matte papers are the likely choice. If the prints are for commercial use then glossy papers are usually preferred. In late March I received a sample box of paper from Hahnemuhle for testing. Here are my initial impressions. It is, of course, acid free. Its weight is GSM and it will come in all standard sheet and roll sizes. It is designed for use with both pigment and dye based inks, and is specifically designed for use with glossy inks. This paper will become broadly available through dealers in the US in late April, March, Hasselblad H2 with mm lens Clearly, there has been some breakthrough by paper makers in the process of making real papers that can accept glossy inks properly, as opposed to RC plastic printing papers.
The weight, the texture, and the surface are very similar indeed. By comparison, MSR feel and looks a bit like thin cardboard. The other comparison that one will make instantly between these two papers is the paper white. I also find the surface of FAP to have a much flatter texture than that of MSR. MSR seems to have a sheen which catches the eye at certain angles. FAP does have a bit of a sheen as well, but only when compared to a matte paper likePhoto Rag.
